Teaching Philosophy

Aesthetic experiences in music education are deeply related to the stimulation of children's interest in music. An aesthetic experience refers to the emotional and sensory enjoyment and beauty that children feel when listening to or performing music. These experiences play a crucial role in enhancing intrinsic motivation for music, fostering sustained interest and participation in the learning process.

When children experience aesthetic pleasure through music, they can connect with music on a deeper emotional level, beyond just learning technical skills. This helps to form a positive attitude toward music learning and contributes to long-term musical development. For example, when children encounter engaging learning pieces, they experience various elements of music, which makes them perceive music as a more enjoyable and meaningful activity, increasing the likelihood of maintaining ongoing interest.

I have always had a deep interest in stimulating learners' interest in their studies. Specifically, my Master's thesis in Music Education was titled "A Study on the Development of Learning Pieces to Stimulate Interest for Beginner Flute Learners." Through this research, I realized how important it is to use teaching methods that can engage the learners' interest in music education.

According to John Dewey's educational philosophy, learning should occur through experience, and it is important to provide students with experiences that can stimulate their interest. Dewey believed that when students gain emotional impact and meaning through experiences, those experiences provide lasting motivation for further learning.

Therefore, stimulating children's musical sensitivity through aesthetic experiences and, in turn, enhancing their ongoing interest in music and learning motivation is one of the key goals of music education. This experience is particularly important for beginner learners because positive initial experiences greatly influence the continuation of their musical journey.
